What is Abdominal/Womb/
Fertility Massage?
Womb and Fertility Massage Therapy™ is a form of massage that
draws on ancient wisdom passed down through the ages, woman to
woman, mother to daughter.
The massage involves nurturing and unwinding pressures over the back
and abdomen. Working in a gentle but deep and soothing way over
the reproductive and digestive systems, this non-invasive and external
therapy uses many types of release techniques to encourage harmony
and balance within the body. Much like osteopathy one of the
philosophies and aims of the massage is to improve the circulation of
the blood, this brings the nutrients, hormones and oxygen the cells need to be healthy. It does this by easing any tension in the muscles, fascia or organs, allowing them to move freely with the body.
DID YOU KNOW: the fallopian tubes should be mobile enough to reach over to the opposite ovary to collect an egg if necessary. So while our reproductive system should be loose and relaxed enough to dance and sway our digestive system benefits from good blood flow too. Improving blood supply to the intestines improves the smooth muscle tone which needs to contract like a Mexican wave to move our digesting food along.
Women often come to see us to support their fertility journey, e.g. IVF or natural, when experiencing discomfort with period pain, ovarian cysts, endometriosis or recovery from a c-section or hysterectomy. Other women have seen improvement with digestive issues and hormonal imbalances. However, this massage need not be only for those in discomfort, it is also a soothing way to reconnect with your body and womb or to relax.
